LinkedIn Outreach Reporting: What to Measure from Replies to Pipeline

Measure LinkedIn replies, meetings, pipeline and revenue. Learn social-influenced vs social-direct reporting and how FirstTouch evidence connects to HubSpot deals.

A LinkedIn outreach report should answer two questions: which workflows create useful conversations, and which of those conversations are associated with pipeline and revenue? FirstTouch activity, HubSpot App Events, and deal records help connect the journey. The key is to define the outcome before adding up the activity.

The short answer

Measure replies, qualified conversations, meetings, and deals separately. Then distinguish social-influenced from social-direct results. For revenue reporting, connect the qualifying social evidence to associated Closed Won deals and count each deal once.

Social-influenced vs social-direct: what is the difference?

MeasureDefinitionWhat it tells you
Social influencedA social touchpoint happened before deal creation, within the default 90-day lookback window.Social was part of the journey before the deal existed.
Social directA social interaction directly led to a positive reply or a meeting booked.Social produced a concrete conversation outcome.

The influenced window is measured backward from each deal's creation date. It does not mean “any activity in the last 90 days from today.” Activity that first happens after deal creation can support the deal, but it does not meet this pre-creation influenced rule.

To report social-influenced revenue, take the qualifying influenced deals that are Closed Won and total their deal amounts. For social-direct revenue, do the same for deals associated with the verified direct social outcome. A positive reply or a booking qualifies the conversation; it is not itself won revenue.

A deal can qualify for both views. Do not add influenced and direct revenue together as though they were separate piles of money. Keep the underlying deal list available so your team can explain what qualified.

Keep the outcome funnel underneath the revenue number

A revenue total helps a leader assess contribution. The earlier stages help the team decide what to improve.

StageWhat to countUseful question
Contacted peopleDistinct people with a completed message or invitation.Who did the workflow reach out to?
RepliesDistinct contacted people with a tracked reply.Did the audience respond?
Positive repliesReplies that show interest, with their social channel confirmed.Did social open a useful conversation?
Qualified conversationsPeople or accounts that meet your team's fit and need criteria. Are we talking to likely buyers?
Booked and held meetingsReport bookings separately from confirmed attendance.Did the next step actually happen?
Opportunities and revenueQualified deals, followed separately through Closed Won.Did a buying process become a customer?

Reply rate = distinct people who replied ÷ distinct people contacted in the same cohort. Keep the denominator visible. One person may receive several touches, and workflow action totals can include tasks. A rejection still counts as a reply, while a booking can later become a no-show.

Compare groups contacted in the same period with a consistent observation window. This week's new outreach and this week's won deals usually describe different people at different stages.

Use FirstTouch activity to explain what happened

FirstTouch's Dashboard and Analytics groups activity into Actions, Engagement, and Opportunities. Its Opportunities cards cover positive replies and meetings booked. Use that view to understand the conversations, then use the associated deal records to report pipeline and won revenue.

For an agent-first workflow, keep human review visible too. Pending approval, approved work, and completed outreach are different stages. An approval is a decision, not evidence that the message was sent.

How to report in HubSpot using FirstTouch App Events and activities

Build the report in two layers: social evidence on the contact journey, then associated deal outcomes. Your HubSpot account needs the relevant reporting access and the FirstTouch data sources used by your setup.

  1. Confirm the tracking you need. In FirstTouch, open the HubSpot settings from Team Settings > Integrations. Review Engagement Tracking for the social activities you want included. Check a matched HubSpot contact for the completed activity before building the report. The integration guide lists the available tracking categories.
  2. Identify the social evidence. Use the FirstTouch App Events and synced activities actually available in your portal. Connection events and social signals can provide touchpoint evidence. For direct results, confirm a positive social reply or a meeting that came from the social interaction. An email reply, a negative LinkedIn reply, or an unrelated meeting does not meet that definition. Not every message is an App Event: ordinary Unibox messages can appear as communications. See how activity sync works.
  3. Start with Deals and associated Activities. In Reporting > Reports, create a custom report using Deals and associated Activities where those sources are available. Qualify the social evidence through the available event or activity information. Add deal ID, creation date, stage, amount, and the relevant contact/activity detail so you can inspect the matches.
  4. Apply the attribution rule per deal. For influenced results, require a qualifying social touch before deal creation within the default 90-day window. Use your configured deal classification or reporting dataset to preserve that relationship. A general “activity happened in the last 90 days” filter does not implement it. For direct results, retain the social channel and the positive reply or booking evidence. State the time window used for the direct outcome separately. If your current report counts every reply, refine it before calling the result social direct.
  5. Separate pipeline from revenue. For the pipeline view, show qualifying opportunities and their amounts with the stage filters stated. For revenue, filter the qualifying deals to Closed Won and use the relevant close-date period. Show a distinct deal count and sum deal Amount once per deal. Several contacts, replies, or social events associated with one deal should not multiply its amount.
  6. Save a dashboard you can explain. Keep influenced and direct views beside the activity and meeting funnel. Drill into the underlying deals before sharing totals. HubSpot's custom report guide explains the builder and its event limits; one event field is available per custom report, so use separate supporting reports where needed.

The exact event and field choices depend on your installed app and report sources. If your portal does not yet have the per-deal classification, configure it with your HubSpot admin or FirstTouch before treating the chart as a revenue report.

A practical weekly review

  • Check coverage: date ranges, matched contacts, social-channel evidence, and missing records.
  • Find the weak stage: audience response, conversation quality, meeting attendance, or deal progression.
  • Read representative replies: understand the human context behind a sentiment label.
  • Choose one change: assign an owner and compare a mature cohort after the change.

Frequently asked questions

What is social-influenced revenue?

It is the Closed Won deal amount associated with a qualifying social touchpoint before deal creation, within the default 90-day lookback window. Count each qualifying deal once.

What is the difference between social direct and social influenced?

Social influenced identifies a social touch before deal creation within the lookback window. Social direct means a social interaction directly led to a positive reply or meeting booked. Revenue requires an associated Closed Won deal.

Can I report on FirstTouch activity in HubSpot?

Yes. Supported App Events and synced activities can provide social evidence for reporting when tracking, permissions, matching, and report sources are available. Connect that evidence to associated deals and apply your reporting rules.

Do I add social-direct and social-influenced revenue together?

No. The same deal can qualify for both. Report the views separately, preserve the underlying deal list, and deduplicate by deal when calculating any combined total.
